THE JD Cymru Premier will resume its season next month.
The top flight of the men's football pyramid, along with the Orchard Welsh Women's Premier, have both been granted elite status by the National Sport Group (NSG).
The NSG includes representation from Sport Wales, Welsh Sports Association, Welsh Government and Commonwealth Games Wales to consider the ‘Elite Status’ designation.
Although the country remains at Alert Level 4 of the Welsh Government Control Plan, clubs in these leagues can prepare for the resumption of fixtures under the FAW’s strict Return to Play COVID-19 protocols.
However the wait goes on for clubs in the JD Cymru North and South who have not received elite status despite the leagues having a provisional starting date set by the Football Association of Wales (FAW).
All eyes will now be set on the NSG to permit the leagues to start - 12 months after the last ball was kicked in either division.
