THE gritters will be out in force across Powys in the early hours of Friday morning with possible sub-zero temperatures expected in parts of the county.
The Met Office has put in place a yellow warning for ice across much of Scotland and England, and although Wales is expected to miss the cold snap, residents and motorists are still being advised to be careful.
Thursday evening is expected to be a largely dry but cloudy evening, with some scattered showers for eastern parts of the country. It is like to remain cloudy overnight with fog likely for many areas, freezing in places, and any showers clearing. The minimum temperature is expected to be -2°C.
Friday is likely to be a dry but cloudy day, with fog slow to lift in places, with low cloud and hill fog likely later on. It will feel cold, with winds strengthening overnight as rain moves in, the maximum temperature is likely to be 6°C.
Powys County Council's Highways, Transport and Recycling Service posted on their Facebook page: “The sub-zero forecasts are back. So our highways operatives will be out salting again, from 6am on January 15.”
