People who live in, work in or know Montgomeryshire may want to tune in to S4C this week.

New car-based treasure hunt show Hewlfa Drysor will focus on Llanerfyl, near Welshpool when it airs at 9pm on Friday, January 8.

Filming took place last summer, when cameras followed three teams competing to see who will become car treasure hunt champions.

Presenters Lisa Angharad and the Welsh Whisperer visit the home of the famous hymn-writer Ann Griffiths, Dolwar Fach, Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and the ancient Kingdom of Powys, Mathrafal.

They also see some familiar faces such as folk artist Siân James, Parti Cut Lloi and Humpty Dumpty.

It will be the third time that the Banwy Valley has featured on the Welsh-language channel in the past week.

On Tuesday evening, one of the channel's popular programmes Cefn Gwlad introduced Mari Lovgreen as its new lead presenter with Ifan Jones Evans following the retirement of the much-loved Dai Jones Llanilar.

Mari lives on a farm in Llanerfyl with husband Ed and their two young children. She shows Ifan around Sychtyn farm and Cwpan Pinc cafe and shop in Llangadfan, which she described as the "heart of the community". Mari also pays a visit to Aberdeunant, a mile away from her farm, in Cwm Nant yr Eira where her grandfather Gwyn Erfyl grew up.

On New Year's Day, Plygain Go Wahanol focussed on Montgomeryshire communities organising a different kind of traditional Welsh Christmas service during the coronavirus outbreak.

Llanfair Caereinion-based author Myfanwy Alexander has also written a comedy sketch show about rural life which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday evening. 'The News From Nowhere' was recorded in Meifod and features talent from Cefn Coch and Llangadfan.
