THE fate of the Welsh football season has been thrown into doubt.
This month the JD Cymru North and South and Ardal Leagues were set to join the JD Cymru Premier and finally start reduced fixture format seasons.
However now all football in Wales has been suspended until January 22
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) confirmed the news via social media today (Monday) while also confirming it would make a further announcement after the Welsh Government update on Friday.
The news will stoke fears that the season will be cancelled with the Welsh Government taking a drastically different approach to sport during the coronavirus than the rest of the United Kingom and Europe.
All but 12 senior men's clubs have not kicked a ball since March with many clubs seeing their finances devastated by a lack of sponsorship while players and managers have also departed to join English clubs.
Scheduled matches up until 22/1/21 have been postponed. Further news will follow after Welsh Government update on Friday /
