A LUXURY Radnorshire holiday destination had a couple of famous visitors at the weekend when celebrity couple Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon came to stay.
The couple, along with their three children, spent the weekend in the picturesque Elan Valley, staying at one of Holiday Wales’ Lord of the Rings-type hobbit houses.
The homes, based at Gellilas between Rhayader and St Harmon, boast 15 properties in all, offering family holidays and romantic weekend getaways with stunning views of the Elan Valley and Cambrian Mountains on offer.
The company styles itself as luxury glamping accommodation, offering several unique options for couples and families, including shepherd’s huts, pods and hobbit houses – where you can discover a little piece of Middle Earth in Mid Wales.
The couple travelled to Powys to celebrate Loose Women panellist and former X Factor contestant Stacey’s 31st birthday.
It came as a total surprise to the Dagenham-born presenter, who thought Joe was simply whisking her and the kids off for a weekend away in their campervan. And she was clearly delighted with the change of scenery as she posted multiple pictures and video to her 3.7 million Instagram followers.

“It was truly magical and the people who run them were so kind and friendly, always there to answer any questions and help us with places to go, food and updates on government rules,” said Stacey in a post to her Instagram Stories.
“I honestly believe sharing people’s businesses when they’re exceptional is what they deserve.”
As well as enjoying their comfortable and luxury accommodation, Stacey and Joe – both past winners of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! – spent the weekend exploring their surroundings, including the “breathtaking” dams at the nearby Elan Valley and venturing further afield to the popular Water Break Its Neck waterfall near New Radnor.
Stacey added: “If you ever find yourself in this part of the world you have to visit the waterfalls called Water Break Its Neck in Radnor Forest, it was so, so, so beautiful.
“The dams at Elan Valley were breathtaking.”
Holidays Wales offer four shepherd’s huts and four hobbit houses – as well as several other options – for visitors. The quaint self-catering lodges come complete with wifi and all modern conveniences, including your own patio and hot tub, all nestled in the Radnorshire hills with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
