A FAMILY-run car dealership business in Llandrindod Wells has made the “extremely difficult” decision to close.
Tremont Garage, which employs 20 people, will close its Ford site in the town on August 31 this year.
It follows Ford’s decision to cut half of its dealer network and the impact of the coronavirus on the economy, the garage’s managing director said.
Richard Knill said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision for me to make as I have personally been involved with the business for over 30 years.
The most difficult part of this decision by far for me however is dealing with the emotions of knowing the impact this will have on my fantastic staff team and all my wonderful loyal customers all of who I owe so much.
“I have explored endless possibilities of how I could continue to maintain the levels of business that would be required to run a dealership of our size all in the hope that I could continue to offer a quality service to our customers at Tremont.
“Sadly, considering the factors and in addition the unprecedented events we are all going through at this time and the negative impact it will almost certainly have on the economy. The only sensible business decision I able to reach is to close the business.
“We will of course continue to fulfil all our obligations and orders through to the 31st of August and to operate the all makes service department up until the end of June.
“Our Tyre centre will remain open until the end of August as normal at which point, I will make a further announcement.
“On a personal note from the bottom of my heart I would like to thank all my amazing staff and customers that have helped me make Tremont the success that it is and remains today .
“Thank you all so much for everything we have shared at Tremont I really do have some amazing memories and I really do wish you all the very best in the future”.
Mon Motors who operate several Ford dealerships in South Wales including a service site in Brecon have agreed to offer help to Tremont Garage customers in future.
