Newtown's 15-year-old football star Carrie Jones made her debut appearance for the Wales senior team on Thursday night (August 29) in a Euro qualifying match against the Faroe Islands.
When Wales were comfortably five goals up, Jones was subbed in at 82 minutes, in what commentator Simon Davies called a "perfect opportunity".
Speaking after the match, Jones said: "I was really speechless to be honest, I wasn't expecting the call up. Honestly, I'm over the moon.
"It's a dream come true. Especially with Tash [Harding] scoring a hat-rick and everything, I couldn't believe it."
The 15-year-old, who appeared in the Number 20 shirt, has played for the Wales under-17s before, but this was her first senior cap for her country.
"What a terrific moment for 15-year-old Carrie Jones. To win your first senior cap at that age is a huge achievment for the youngster from Newtown," Simon Davies said.
Former Wales international Gwennan Harries, also commentating in the live BBC coverage, said that Jones could become one of "Wales' best players".
She said: "Let me tell you, if this girl can get a bit of luck, being free from injuries, she will be one of Wales' best players over the next 10 years, 20 years, she's such a talent.
"So composed, got two great feet, but most importantly for me, her work ethic is outstanding, a real team player. It's a really exciting time to see her stepping into this group."
Jones' parents watched the match at home with friends and neighbours, and were "proud and tearful". Her mum said that her "determination is second to none".
