CARRIE Jones has received her first call up to the Welsh national senior team.
The 15 year old Newtown High School student forms part of a 22 player squad for the forthcoming UEFA Women's European Championship qualifiers against Faroe Islands and Northern Ireland.
Jones makes the step up having progressed through the Welsh junior ranks and first team training squad.
Wales travel to the Faroe Islands on Thursday, August 29 before hosting Northern Ireland in Newport on Tuesday, September 3.
Jones could come up against fellow Mid Wales raised player Freya Holdaway with the year old Llandrindod Wells native and Crystal Palace defender a Northern Irish international.
Proud mother Joyce said: "Carrie has worked hard for this and it has always been her dream.
"It's fantastic as parents to be able to witness this at such an early age."
Berriew Football Club junior coach Paul Inns praised Jones on her latest milestone.
"I am over the moon with Carrie's call up to the Wales women’s squad for the Euro qualifiers," said Inns. "Not only is she a fantastic footballer but so humble too.
"She’s a fantastic role model and hopefully she’ll inspire others to follow in her footsteps."
