Restoration work on Builth Wells’ war memorial will start in May, it has been confirmed.
Powys War Memorials Project discussed at a meeting held in Newtown that the work would be carried out by Ceredigion-based Elliott Ryder Conservation.
The work to repair, restore and maintain Builth Wells’ war memorial is set to cost around £7,413.80.
Elliott Ryder Construction restored the Rhayader Clock Tower War Memorial and Newtown’s Cenotaph in time for the centenary commemorations of the end of the First World War.
Builth Wells Town Council successfully won the maximum bid of £5,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw through Powys County Council’s Powys War Memorial Project for First World War memorials. The town council has agreed to pay the remaining costs which comes to £2,413,80.
Funding of up to £5,000 for each memorial and up to £200 for the surroundings are available until July 1.
