DAN Ratcliffe has taken the helm of Newtown Wanderers.

Ratcliffe takes over from long serving player-manager Austen Oliver who has stspped down due to work commiittments.

Club spokesman Lee Stephens said: "The club will always be grateful to Austen, who has been with us from day one.

"Austen has always played and managed with 100 per cent and is a Wanderer through and through. We hope to see him back in his number 10 shirt soon.

"Danny has been involved with the Wanderers for a long time and is a loyal clubman. We look forward to Danny's work and a successful season."

Ratcliffe will look to further develop the existing Wanderers' squad while also strengthening ahead of the new J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League Mitsubishi Division Two season.
