JAMES Davies has signed for Dafabet Welsh Premier side Cefn Druids.

The 23 year old striker netted 14 goals for Llanfair United last season but was unable to prevent the Mount Field club’s relegation from the Huws Gray Alliance and return to Spar Mid Wales League One.

The former Shrewsbury Town youngster cut his teeth in the Spar Mid Wales League with Carno before playing a leading role in United’s march to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Since Davies has earned a reputation as a goal scorer.

Davies’ hat-trick inspired Llanfair to a shock 4-1 Welsh Cup victory over Druids last season with the club now swooping to bolster their attacking options.

Druids assistant manager Jason Starkey said: “James is a player we have had on our radar for a few seasons now.

“Whenever we have come across him he has caused us problems.

“He can play a number of positions which is something we look for in a player.”

Davies relished the step up to the top flight next season.

“I am delighted Druids have given me this opportunity and look forward to the season ahead.”

Davies becomes the second player to depart Mount Field this summer following Marc Jones’ return to home village club Berriew last week.
