Paul Worts

PAUL Worts will step down as fixture secretary of the Welsh Beef and Lamb Under 19s League this month.

Worts joins general secretary Phil Jones in signalling their intentions to resign at the annual meeting and pass the baton on to new officials.

Worts cited growing work demands behind his decision to step down after six years in the post.

“The job could be frustrating because of the number of games postponed,” said Worts. “Particularly in the winter when you know there is little chance of them going ahead with a club’s first or reserve team playing at home on a Saturday.

“However it can also be very rewarding because we have always managed to complete the league and this year the feedback as to the quality of the football has been very pleasing.

“The fact the league has been zoned over the past couple of years seems to have been a plus while cutting down on travel which is always a problem with the geography of our area.”

Worts thanks referees and coaches for their support as well as the league committee led by chairman Will Lloyd-Williams.

“I have been fortunate enough to deal with some top football people in my time in the post and would like to wish the Welsh Beef and Lamb Mid Wales Under 19 League every success in the future,” said Worts.
