Cound 176 all out by two wickets

WELSHPOOL celebrated their best result of the season so far with a two wicket win at home to Henshalls Shropshire League One title chasers Cound.

Joe Monk (1-25) struck early as Cound opener Dan Tudor was caught by Matthew Knight for seven before Rob Pengelly opened his account with Farrell Waters stumped by Dale Evans for nine.

Robert Anderson (1-29) celebrated the wicket of opener Graham Trow for a top scoring 41 as brother Tom Anderson joined Pengelly in restricting the visitors.

Pengelly (3-39) completed his haul with Henry Cooper (31) and Chris Parry (29) dismissed while skipper Anderson (1-21) accounting for Craig Kinsey (32).

Adam Williams (11no) was joined by Callum Marsh (4no) in guiding Cound to 176-6 with an unbroken seventh wicket partnership.

Pool lost both openers cheaply in reply with Williams (2-24) making light work of Joe Monk, snared LBW for two, and Nick Davies, caught by Parry for nine.

Paul Chapman kick started the Pool innings and joined by Matthew Knight for the fourth wicket before the latter was trapped LBW by Tudor for 14.

Iwan Morgan (4-40) maintained pressure on the middle order with Tom Anderson (20), Patrick Davies (0) and Dale Evans (1) falling before celebrating the wicket of Chapman for a top scoring 75.

It was left to veteran campaigner Russell Cadwallader (31no) and Rob Anderson (10no) to guide Pool to glory with an unbroken ninth wicket partnership.
