NEWTOWN Rovers have confirmed their re-formation next season.

The club folded last season following a successful debut campaign which saw them earn promotion from Montgomeryshire League Two and win the Tanners Town Cup in 2016.

The Pink Panthers have since been cleared to play at Maldwyn Leisure Centre with their long term aim of settling at the Vaynor pitch situated on the Riverside Fields.

Manager Jamie Davies said: “Things have come together really well over the past few weeks, players are keen to sign and we have some new sponsors.

“The decision to fold last season was done with a heavy heart so it is fantastic to be looking forward to the club’s return.

“I have been in talks with the Montgomeryshire League secretary who has been supportive as always and hopefully our application will be approved at the annual meeting next month.”

However efforts to reform Bettws Football Club have stalled.

The club folded last season and despite interest among locally based players to resurrect the club from its Tregynon Road ground all efforts to recruit a manager have failed.

Spokesman Malcolm Phillips said: “We have the ground, the kit and core of a squad but without a manager to take on the job then the club will not be reforming.”
