THE Montgomeryshire League annual meeting will be held next month with secretary Bernie Jones hoping to welcome a host of new clubs to the fold.

Jones is keen to allow potential new entries as long as possible to finalise their plans for next season.

“We have had a lot of interest from clubs this season and hopefully all who have shown an interest will officially apply and be admitted at the annual meeting,” said Jones.

Newly formed Forden United are expected to be admitted while Four Crosses have also dropped down from the Spar Mid Wales League.

Meanwhile Newtown Rovers and Bettws have made renewed efforts to reform after folding last summer with Llanfyllin Town also setting up a reserve side.

“Hopefully we do not lose any clubs and with these new members it would make the Montgomeryshire League all the more competitive next season.”
