THE Spar Mid Wales League’s composition for next season will not be confirmed until next week.

League secretary Phil Woosnam confirmed applicants for vacancies in both the first and second division would have to wait until Tuesday to learn their fate.

The first division ran one club below quota while the second division ran three clubs short last season.

With Four Crosses resigning and Newcastle Emlyn withdrawing their application to join the second division the league has a number of vacancies for next season.

It is understood several clubs have also expressed a desire to step down from the first division which has led to the league offering promotion to Borth United who ended third in the second division last season.

Brecon Northcote and Talgarth Town have both applied for membership of Spar Mid Wales League Two along with J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League Mitsubishi Division Two side Trewern.

However the final decision on each applicant and the composition of the first and second division will be ratified by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) next week.

League secretary Phil Woosnam said: “Hay are dropping out of the first division but will hopefully play in the second division as their former reserve team won the Mid Wales League South last season.

“With Hay dropping down and Montgomery Town seeking relegation, this leaves a spare place in the first division which hopefully Borth will be able to fill.

“The vacancies, including that of Talgarth Town and Trewern, will not be confirmed until next week’s full FAW council meeting.”
