BRECON Northcote kept alive their title bid with a 7-1 thrashing of Knighton Town Reserves.

The Robins led when Fraser McNally put through his own net but the Stags stormed back with doubles from Craig Evans and Glyn Hobbs while Corey Evans, Joel Evans and Llyr Davies completed the rout.

The result assured Brecon Northcote a top two finish and promotion to the second division of the Mid Wales League.

However Talgarth Town will be left sweating on senior league vacancies after a solitary Tom Crichton strike sealed a 1-0 victory for Presteigne Reserves.

Hay St Marys Reserves closed on the title despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Llanidloes Town Reserves whose Francis Barr levelled to earn his side a point following Josh Wisniewski’s opener.

Player-manager Craig Morris struck twice as Newcastle overcame Penybont Reserves with Sam Morgan completing a 3-0 victory.

Meanwhile Llandrindod Wells Reserves battled to a 3-2 win at St Harmon with goals from Joe Wheeler, Jason Coles and Scott Davies giving the Spamen a commanding lead before the Swifts hit back through Ryan Addison and Dan Price.
