NICK Howells praised his players for an improved display but was still not enough to avoid defeat at Trebanos.

The Bulls travelled with just 15 men but answered their coach’s demand for a commitment and discipline which restricted the hosts to a single first-half try from Rhodri Thomas, converted by Luke Griffiths.

However the Builth challenge came to fade after the break as their tiring players gave way under mounting pressure with tries from Shaun Lewis, Steff Lewis and Dan Griffiths settling the outcome.

“I will not criticise the lads for the display, especially we travelled with the bare 15 which meant we were unable to make substitutions,” said Howells.

“We know it will be tough now but we believe a positive result against Ystalyfera this weekend would be crucial to our hopes of survival.”
