Spar MWL One
JOSH Morgan starred with a brace as Welshpool Town prevailed 3-2 winners at home to Tywyn Bryncrug to boost their survival prospects in Spar Mid Wales League One.
The result ensured the Lilywhites leapfrogged Tywyn out of the bottom two ahead of a crucial run-in with three games remaining to climb as high up the table as possible.
Morgan gave the hosts a dream start when he pounced inside the opening minute and the Lilywhites tightened their grip when Sam Evans headed home Rob Cookson’s 25th minute corner.
Morgan completed his brace after the break with a cool finish after good play between player-manager Chris Roberts and Will Pritchard unlocked the Tywyn defence.
However Tywyn reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining with Nick Williams on target from the penalty spot before setting up a tense finale when Mark Edmonson blasted home from distance.
Llandrindod Wells held Aberaeron to a goalless draw at Broadway while a waterlogged pitch forced the cancellation of Machynlleth’s clash at home to Montgomery Town.
Elsewhere Llanidloes Town maintained their impressive form with two goals from Ed Clarke and a Josh Matthews strike earning a 3-0 victory at Hay St Marys.
