IWAN Lewis struck twice as Caersws celebrated glory in an eight goal thriller at Gresford Athletic.

The Bluebirds arrived at Clappers Lane determined to revive their inconsistent campaign and celebrated a dream start when Sean Evans fired home a free-kick inside the opening minute.

Caersws doubled their advantage before the break with Mike Collister on target on 20 minutes.

The second-half saw Caersws maintain their dominance with a rare goal from Luke Evans on the hour before Lewis cashed in with the first of his brace a minute later.

The hosts responded to halve the arrears with two goals in six minutes as Sam Richardson and Jack Jones struck.

Gresford continued to press and were punished as a swift Caersws counter attack led to Lewis slotting home his second of the day with 10 minutes remaining.

Gresford had the final say with Jonathan Collo reducing the arrears late on but it was too late to prevent Caersws celebrating three points which saw them climb to seventh in the table.

CAERSWS: L Evans, E Jones, Hughes, Grant, Richards, Lewis, Harries, Collister, Thomas, LK Evans, S Evans. Subs: Davies, P Jones, Parr, G Evans, McPhee.
