BRECON Northcote overcame a spirited Penybont Reserves to stay top of the table with a 3-1 victory at the Racecourse Ground.

Jack Evans and Corey Evans struck for the Stags with an own goal completing their tally but Penybont had the final say with George McCarthy-Allen netting a late consolation.

Hay St Marys Reserves and Knighton Town Reserves closed the gap on the leaders with crucial victories.

Hay comfortably overcame Presteigne Reserves 4-1 courtesy of a Rob McNamara hat-trick and Kevin Jones goal to cancel Ioan Hughes opener for the hosts.

Meanwhile Knighton edged a 1-0 win at Llandrindod Wells Reserves courtesy of a Chris Roff header before prevailing 2-1 derby winners at Presteigne last weekend.

Mark Jones starred with a brace for the Robins while Tom Crichton kept Presteigne in contention.
