WELSHPOOL’S season ended on a bum note in a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Colwyn Bay in division one of the North Wales Women’s League.
A solitary strike from Charlotte Williams proved enough for Bay to claim maximum points which also kept alive their hopes of leapfrogging Pool to third.
However Llanfair Caereinion all but sealed their return to the top flight as second division champions with a 9-1 thrashing of Caernarfon.
Mary Griffiths led the rout with a hat-trick with Ffion Lewis netting a brace while Elain Jones, Alice Gregory and Sioned Gittins settled a one sided contest for the youthful Mid Wales side.
Meanwhile Presteigne’s promotion bid in division two of the South Wales Women’s League was dealt a blow in a 1-0 defeat at Dowlais.
However Radnor gave themselves renewed hope of surviving the drop in division one after goals from Rachel Ellen and Hayley Price earned a 2-0 win at Swansea City IIIs,
Montgomery slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Bridgnorth in the Shropshire Women’s League.
Sarah Williams, Paula Hughes, Courtney Burd, Rebecca Randell and Sasha Evans went close for Monty but the hosts proved more clinical and established a two goal lead before Harriet Evans struck a consolation late on.
