ADAM Jenkins last gasp penalty was saved as Guilsfield let high flying Caernarfon Town off the hook at Clos Mytton.

The visitors arrived buoyant from their Welsh Cup quarter-final victory but found the Guils keen to atone for their own cup dejection.

Louis Irvine fired a shot onto the post inside the opening 10 minutes before Caernarfon  captain Nathan Craig’s 20 yard free-kick dipped just over the bar.

The hosts kept the Canaries at bay with the outstanding Robbie James joined by central defensive partner James Henderson in outstanding displays.

Both goalkeepers were called upon at the end of the half with Chris Cathrall’s low drive tipped away by Caernarfon’s Alex Ramsay before Darren Thomas’ header was pushed around the post by Dave Littleford at the other end.

Littleford was again in the heart of the action with a double save to deny Jamie Breese at the start of the second-half.

The frantic pace continued with Irvine forcing Ramsay into action before Henderson saved his side with a goalline block to deny Danny Brookwell.

The Guils lost James to injury with 20 minutes remaining but could have snuck victory.

Jake Cook chipped a shot onto the bar before Jenkins was impeded in the area by Gareth Edwards with a minute remaining only for his spot kick to be saved by Ramsay.

GUILSFIELD: Littleford, Bromley, Cathrall, Ford, James, Henderson, Cook, Jones, Litchfield, Irvine, Jenkins. Subs: Subs: Rogers, Richards, Barton, Andrew.
