Police have suspended the search for Newbridge man Malcolm Williams after a body was recovered from the river in Newbridge-On-Wye on Thursday afternoon.
Mr Williams, aged 61, was reported missing on Tuesday, October 16 and police issued a second appeal for information a week later on October 24.
A statement from Police said Mr Williams family have been informed, and a formal identification is due to take place shortly.
The statement reads: "A body has been recovered from the river at Newbridge-on-Wye on the afternoon of Thursday, November 8.
"Formal identification is yet to take place, however the family of Dilwyn Malcolm Williams, who has been missing since Tuesday, October 16, have been made aware of this development, and the missing person search for Mr Williams has been suspended.
"His family is being supported by specially trained officers.
"Police were supported by the fire and rescue service and the Mountain Rescue Team.
"Detective Inspector Steve Lloyd said: "I must thank the community for their assistance in this matter and also thank our partners who assisted us in recovering the body as discreetly and respectfully as possible."
Police say HM Coroner has been informed.
